John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions by his popular-folk hits and many of them inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell New Mexico. However, he was enthralled by Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually made his way to Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his adopted state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says the fact that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. He is now Colorado's international image. When you encounter people from other countries, like New Zealanders and ask them "I come from Colorado" and they immediately reply with Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short time in folk-based bands comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the track for Johnny Cash but Denver recognized its potential after hearing it first. The singer recorded the song only a few days afterward after performing it to crowds of enthusiastic fans on the streets of Washington D.C.
